I think about my childhood and teen years alot and the things I miss the most. I can't help but wonder what life might have been like, had not so many of my loved ones not gone so far astray as to never come back and walk the right or at least safe way, where would they be today?
There were so many from our little town of Springfield, Ma who for whatever reason felt the need to up and go earlier than expected. So many from our little town. More than most folks can really comprehend. It's funny, I don't think many people think about it the way I do.
It started of course with the '70s and the whole over the top drug thing that made the youth in my town go crazy. Made so many of them feel as if they had to prove to each other they could sustain and contain more than the other one around them at any given time.
It is funny how looking back now, I realize that my fears, heart struck fears were well founded. I would get scared back then at the levels of consumption it seemed my friends required to get higher and higher as Sly and his Family Stoned would sing... And now, while flying high, in the friendly skies, they are all gone and I pay homage to them here.
I think of some who were so sweet to me, so loving and caring. Some so sophistocated and glamous, some who were mean and cruel, yet and still, they seemed pretty adament it would not happen to them and it did anyway and now they are gone anyway. So just to name a few they are:
Larry Wise
J.J. Holmes
Mitch Crump
Tiger Wilbon
LaVerne Twiggs
Bru Bru Wilbon
Diane Boykin
Sharon Mullins
Tommy Cole
John McCoy
Donna Webb
Bobby Walls
Tommy Barklow
Michael Sykes
Yes, just to name a few of those who died much too young. Untimely deaths due to some sort of mishap or another, caused by internalizing things that we all know we shouldn't and even still I miss them all so very much, so much.. From my little town...
Where have all the flowers gone, long time passing... angels picked them everyone... when will they ever learn?
